I admit that when I first saw the News on the earthquake/Tsunami I wasn’t concerned about it. But soon, I realize the matter got really bad when e news reported the number of deaths increasing each day, those clips showing the humongous wave and how people are swept away by it, the harden and lifeless struggled bodies that gradually floated to the shore and the list just goes on. The tidal waves are much scarier then I’ve expected. I wasn’t physically affected but emotionally I am. I guess this is one of the symptoms that the world is coming to an end soon. First is terrorism, then the Sars outbreak and now the earthquake. Maybe all these happened because of the sins that the human race had committed…and we may soon be like the dinosaurs – extinct…another thing will then conquer our land and take over us. They’ll rediscover us and tag us as another living thing that have once existed. All these are always in cycle, as people are always saying history repeats itself.
Here’s an email I’ve received maybe u guys will like to take note
Dear friends,
In response to the Emergency Appeal that was launched by the International Federation of Red Cross & Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), the Singapore Red Cross is launching a public appeal to raise funds for the victims of the Bay of Bengal earthquake and tidal waves.
The earthquake that struck off Sumatra measured 9.0 on the Richter Scale in magnitude according to the US Geographical Survey, making it the world's biggest in 40 years. The current death toll had risen to over 27,000 according to Reuters.
MONETARY DONATIONS
The Singapore Red Cross is appealing for monetary donations to help these victims from the affected countries. The money collected will be sent to IFRC to fund purchases and direct delivery of emergency items like medicine and first aid, food parcels and other relief supplies for the displaced and homeless victims. Please note that due to logistical reasons, we would not be accepting donations in kind.
Cheques should be made payable to "Singapore Red Cross Society". Please write your name, contact number, address and "Tidal Waves Asia" on the back of the cheque. The cheques can be sent to:
Singapore Red Cross Society
